Digimon Adventure Episode 2

Episode 2: Explosive Evolution! Greymon

As the children plunge into the river, Gomamon summons a school of fish to catch them and whisk them to safety while Kuwagamon crashes into the water. The group are taken to shore and, after their Digimon partners reintroduce themselves in regard to their new forms, they attempt to determine their location and how to return home.

We’re back to releasing with a revised encode that should address the combing issues seen in the first episode (which has also been replaced with a v2) while still keeping the variable frame-rate encoding we wanted to use. This’ll be the final version for the video work, so any further v2 releases will simply be “bug’ fixes. As I mentioned in the updated Episode 1 post, we’ve revised Jyou/Joe’s name on the RyRo track to Jo, matching the new Romanization seen in the new Digimon tri trailer. Enjoy!

Digimon Adventure Episode 1

Episode 1: Adrift? The Island of Adventure!

Mysterious climate changes occur around the world, including a blizzard that falls overnight at a summer camp in Japan. Seven children at the camp—Taichi, Sora, Yamato, Koushiro, Mimi, Takeru, and Joe—are each given an item that falls from an aurora in the sky, and are all swept off by a wave. Coming to in a strange place, Taichi finds himself with an equally strange creature that calls himself Koromon. In time, Taichi reunites with the others as they each have a strange companion of their own. After the creatures introduce themselves as Digimon and the place to be the Digital World, the children are reunited with Mimi as she and Tanemon are running from a Kuwagamon that attacked Taichi and Koushiro earlier…

Well, here we go with the Digimon Adventure BD box! These BDs are… interesting to say the least, given the source Toei had available for the upscale. All things considered, they look pretty decent for a Toei upscale. We’ve got dual-subs on these, both the official Netflix version and the Ryuu-Rogue subs for those that prefer the fansubbed version. The only change we have made to the RyRo subs aside from styling changes is changing Jyou to Joe . We’ve also ported their sign translations over to the Netflix subs, since those subs lacked the translations. We’ll try and get a few episodes out a week if everything goes to plan. Anyway, enjoy!

UPDATE: We’ve revised the v2 spelling of Jyou to Jo, based on the recent trailer for tri Romanizing it as such. No other changes have been made and the Netflix track retains Joe.

Gundam Anniversary Shorts

Gundam Anniversary Shorts

The following is a collection of three shorts created for the 10th and 30th anniversaries of the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise, included in HD on the Mobile Suit Gundam Movie Trilogy Premium Edition set. A 30 minute feature called “The Impression of First Gundam” was included for the 20th anniversary, but is not included here. The first two are reposts of the previously released encodes from last summer, while Ring of Gundam is a new release with subs added.

10th Anniversary Short – All That Gundam

Released in 1989, All That Gundam is a short featuring the Gundams seen in the original Mobile Suit Gundam, Zeta Gundam, ZZ Gundam, and Char’s Counterattack, leading up to the reveal of the RX-78-NT1 Gundam “Alex”, along with the main characters of the soon-to-be-released Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket OVA.

30th Anniversary Short – Gundam Perfect Mission

Released in 2009, Gundam Perfect Mission features the leading Gundams from nearly every main Gundam TV series, movie, and OVA from the past 30 years of the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise, including an appearance by the Unicorn Gundam from the not-yet-released Gundam UC OVA.

30th Anniversary Short – Ring of Gundam

Also released in 2009, Ring of Gundam was Yoshiyuki Tomino’s return to Gundam for the first time since the Zeta Gundam: A New Translation film trilogy, and his first wholly new entry since Turn A Gundam a decade earlier. This CGI short stars a soldier, Eiji, who travels to the Ring Colony to search for the so-called “Beauty Memory”, which is said to contain all of mankind’s memories. Upon encountering Beauty on a hilltop, he is told that to decipher this data, he must obtain “Amuro’s Legacy”. Now Eiji continues his quest to discover the key to mankind’s salvation.

This re-released version features subtitles for the dialogue. These subs were originally done by MovingLines, but I’ve restyled them and made a few fixes for the spelling, punctuation, and tweaked a couple of words used in the dialogue. For those of you who downloaded the raw version last summer, a patch is included to add the subs. Enjoy!

Digimon Adventure The Movie

Digimon Adventure The Movie

Two children receive a strange egg that hatches into their very first Digimon, leading to the night that would change their lives forever.

Well, here’s the first actual movie from the Digimon movie box! We’re pretty proud of how this one turned out, as we’ve done scene-by-scene image stabilization, fixing the gate-weave judder that Toei didn’t bother to address. This does mean there is some minor cropping over the source (2 pixels vertical/horizontal on average from each edge), but we felt this was a worthwhile sacrifice in exchange for a stable image.

Additionally, we’ve added some hum reduction to the BD-sourced audio to improve the quality. For those that prefer it, we’ve included the DVD stereo audio as well since the file size increase for another track was small.

We are hoping to do the TV series box when it is released March 3rd, once the movies are complete, although that will depend largely on funding. While we can hope someone will upload the box, we are hoping to buy a copy of it to take advantage of the low-cost preorder (roughly $336) and to know we have a source for it, so if anyone is interested in donating towards it, drop us a line in the comments or on our IRC channel!

Digimon Adventure 3D – Digimon Grand Prix

Digimon Adventure 3D – Digimon Grand Prix

Twelve racers compete in the Digimon Grand Prix to obtain the title of “King of the Digimon”! However, this isn’t your average race!

We return to active releases with a short file first, coming from the newly released Digimon movie box. We’ve made a few tweaks to RyRo’s subs for this one, but thanks go out to them for the original translation. You’ll find that we’ve got something for everyone here, with 2D and 3D encodes, as well as a 3DS-compatible encode for anyone who wants to check out the 3D version but lacks a 3D display! For more details on 3D playback, including how to use the 3DS encode, check out the 3D Playback guide in the navbar up top. Otherwise, enjoy!

We’re Back!

It’s been quite a while but we are finally back up and running! I’m going to try and keep this as short as I can, so here’s a list of what to expect:

  • Probably the biggest change is that we’ll be doing several new sub-only shows. That doesn’t mean we won’t be doing dual-audio stuff anymore, just that for right now, the shows I’m most interested in working on happen to lack dubs or else I can’t obtain sources for existing dubs.
  • Batch torrents for supported releases will be reposted over the next few days. If you need one sooner, check the torrent archive link in the navbar (possibly missing right now as I’m still getting everything set up) or request it in the comments.
  • In the future, pulled releases will have their episode posts set back to draft status to avoid a repeat of what took us down before.
  • Some pulled shows will have re-released bonus material batches that consist of encodes that are unlikely to show up on US releases, such as Japanese commercials or unlicensed OVAs.
  • New batches for Gundam 0079 and Endless Waltz will be posted soon-ish, once the files are re-uploaded to the seedbox.
  • A few things were pulled while we were down. RahXephon has been pulled due to DMCAs that arrived after the old Blogger site was deleted, and the Patlabor movies were pulled today due to the announcement that Maiden Japan will be releasing them in the US this year.
  • If I haven’t mentioned it, there are no immediate plans for it. That means the dub versions of Mobile Suit Gundam Movies 2 and 3, Gundam SEED, and anything else I can’t remember. That doesn’t mean they aren’t still planned, just that they are not on top of my list.

We’ve got new releases ready to go up soon after this post, so standby for those. I’m tweaking the site theme on the fly here, so if anything looks out of place, bear with it for the time being. Otherwise, welcome back!
