New Poll Update - 1st Feedback Edition
Results from Anime-To-Go (3/2/10):
On the Nintendo DS/DSlite/DSi/DSi LL - 10 (2%)
On the Sony PSP/PSPgo - 88 (23%)
On a MP3 Player (iPod, Zune, etc.) - 67 (18%)
On a Mobile Phone (iPhone, Blackberry, etc.) - 47 (12%)
I don't watch anime on portable devices. - 202 (54%)
Analysis:
As far as the results go, I'll have to say this was one of the more predictable polls we've had, doesn't surprise me one bit that the majority of viewers who visit us don't watch anime on portable devices and I think I have a good idea why. If you are an OZC fan, I assume you came here to get your high-quality, HD anime fix, and that usually translates to being not-very-portable-device-friendly. Limited storage space becomes an issue and on such small screen resolution, you may think picture quality doesn't matter too much.
For those who do watch anime on portable devices, again, not surprisingly, the Sony PSP was the clear favorite. Most likely thanks in part to a combination of having the largest screen resolution (not including PSPgo) of all the rest, a common video format, and the fact that plenty of anime get released on UMDs in Japan. They're almost non-existant in America. Nice to see that MP3 players and mobile phones aren't far behind in usage, though I have a feeling that the majority who chose the latter are iPhone users. As for the DS, even though its a great gaming device, lets just say it was not exactly made for watching videos unless you use a flash cart.
As for what I chose, the answer was both yes and no because although I don't watch whole anime episodes on a portable device, in this case, my PSP, I do enjoy watching short anime clips on it from time to time.
New Info:
Like I promised you, although a little later than expected, here is this week's new poll. This is the "1st" Feedback Edition because I hope it is the first of more to come. As you've hopefully already read in OZC's recent release update post, you'll know that our 1-year anniversary is coming up, so it's a special occasion. And naturally, we always like to hear our fans and viewers' opinions so we can improve and offer better service in the end. And what better time than right now! Therefore, the question is...What changes do you want to see at OZC Anime? There's no guarantee that we'll change everything that's listed or anything at all, but you never know, maybe sometime in the future we will.
*If you select "Other," please specify in the comments, but also keep in mind that there are some things we will NOT change, such as release policies, release format, download options, and group name.

Release Schedule Update - Monday 3/29/10

It's the Monday Update! Starring: Code Geass R2! And, Gundam 00 Season 2!
So, this one is going to be a short update since this week is the week a lot of people have been waiting for. Up first this week we have the long awaited completion of Code Geass R2. 6 episodes remain and if I can keep on schedule, the last episode will release Wednesday night. I'll be getting the last discs tomorrow.
Also coming this week, and NOT an April Fools joke, despite anyone wanting to think it is, Gundam 00 season 2 kicks off. We have seven episodes on this first part, and 6 episodes on the three subsequent releases, whenever they finally arrive. I'd expect two episodes Thursday, with more coming over the weekend.
As a quick update on the GITS front, Solid State Society will be worked on after I finish the new 00 episodes. Along with this, I'll have the Individual Eleven compilation. Black Lagoon will also resume then, and with any luck, if we get the last two BD's, I'll be able to work straight through to finish up 2nd Barrage.
That about covers it this week. Next week is our 1 year anniversary and we are ready to roll out some new things that I think people will really like, so I hope everyone looks forward to it. Until then, thanks for your support!

Audio "Bug" in 2nd GIG Episode 22
I had mentioned this in the chatbox yesterday, and had intended to make a note in the episode post, but I forgot to, and since I've gotten a handful of emails already, and noticed a question about it in the chatbox, I figured a new post would address it better. I'll use the question from the chatbox to highlight the "problem".
Anon1039: GITS 2nd GIG episode 22 - at around 19:20, while the english audio track is being played, Batou's mouth is moving but there isn't any speech to be heard.... this is different, however when the Japanese audio track is played as during this segment there is speech while is mouth is moving.... is this intentional on the part of the original dubbers? The rest of the episode's audio is synced properly, however this is only part where there is no audio despite there being a cue for it.
Here's the deal. Unlike most of my releases where I have to sync the audio myself, GitS had the dub on the BD's, so all I have to do is sub it. The audio, aside from being AAC, is exactly as presented on the BD's. When I was QC'ing, I noticed this same situation. Of course, the first thing I did was go to my DVD and check the episode. What I found created a scenario where no matter what we did, one of the tracks was going to be screwed up.
If you have the R1 DVD's, check that same scene. You'll note Batou's mouth doesn't move in that scene. However, his mouth also doesn't move if you select the Japanese audio. So, it appears Bandai Ent. either dubbed it based on a faulty source that didn't have the mouth movements or edited the video instead of writing a line to fit in there.
So what does this mean? Well, the only options are to either edit the video to freeze the frame so that Batou's mouth stops moving, which would then cause the Japanese audio to appear messed up, or to release it as we did, causing the English audio to look messed up. Since this is how it appeared on the BD's, and is the much easier of the two options, that's what we went with.
Hopefully this clarifies the situation for everyone.

Release Schedule Update - Monday 3/22/10
Once again, time flies and here we are on another Monday.
We are rapidly approaching the anniversary of the site and the reveal of something new, as well as a new site design sometime in April or May. I have a few basic designs in mind, but if anyone out there is interested in assisting with the redesign and can create an attractive Blogger compatible layout, let me know via email or a PM in the forums. Additionally, I'm interested in adding a rotating banner to the new design, so if you are interested in designing a banner for the site, by all means, please do. There is a thread here that is a perfect place to submit banner designs.
So, with that out of the way, lets move on to releases!
First up, I'm still waiting on shipping notification for Code Geass R2 Vol. 4 and Gundam 00 Season 2 Vol. 1, so I don't have a concrete ETA for that. If I get a shipping notice, I'll be sure to mention it. We have confirmed they are on the way to, and in the hands of, retailers, so I expect shipping notification should come any day now.
On the 2nd GIG front, we are VERY close to completion. The last six episodes will release starting tomorrow, culminating in the release of the last episode this weekend. Once the last episode is out, I'll be prepping to release Solid State Society within a few days after that. Regarding the Individual Eleven compilation, I'm still waiting to get the last few pieces of the raw, so it won't be out until I can complete the download. Considering it's just a compilation, I'm not very concerned about it other than wanting to finish all of S.A.C., compilations included.
Black Lagoon will also continue this week, with a big focus there alongside 2nd GIG. Episode 15 might take a little bit of extra time as the ED will require subs, but I'd expect 2-3 episodes of Black Lagoon this week.
Regarding some upcoming releases, we are still working on our encodes of Zeta Gundam. Because they can take 24+ hours due to the slow filtering applied, it takes a long time to get raws ready for me to work on. I'll keep everyone up to date on what is going on with that, but I won't be starting any other series in Zeta Gundam's place.
Also, the release of Gundam 0080 has been canceled as I have discovered that the R1 and R2 DVD's are literally identical in video quality. As such, there is no reason for that to be released, so we'll be going right to 0083.
I don't think there is anything else for this week, so we'll just wrap it up here. As always, thanks for your support!

Edit: Check out the Gallery, a ton of cover art has been added!
New poll next week, I promise, too busy and haven't thought of a good one yet.

Black Lagoon The Second Barrage Episode 13 (Blu-Ray)

Episode 13: The Vampire Twins Comen
Due to a spree of killings aimed at Hotel Moscow, Chang organizes a meeting between the major crime lords of Roanapur: himself, Balalaika, Abrego, a Colombian cartel boss, and Verrocchio, the leader of the Roanapur branch of the Italian mafia. Balalaika spurns Chang's attempts to foster cooperation, and insists that Hotel Moscow will find and eliminate the assassins. The following morning, two of Balalaika's subordinates are killed, and Watsap reveals that the assassins are a pair of twin children. A large bounty is placed on the twins, and as the city begins to fill with bounty hunters, Eda, a member of the Church of Violence, suggests to Revy that they join the hunt as well. At the twins' hideout, their sponsors are disgusted to find that the twins are brutally torturing one of Balalaika's subordinates. Meanwhile, Balalaika asks Rock for information concerning the twins' speaking mannerisms, and Rock realizes that they are related to vampires.

Note: This one is a big one, at 1.05GB. Mainly, this is because there are a lot of flashbacks with fine grain, as can be seen in the main screenshot, so as usual, the bitrate and overall file size increased accordingly.
Release Schedule Update - Monday 3/15/10

Here is is, another Monday. Lets get this show on the road.
With last week seeing completion of 08th MS Team, it puts us down to two active shows, which is beneficial to everyone since it means less I have to bounce between for releasing.
Because last week was nothing but 08th MS even though I had intended to get some GitS out over the weekend, I'll be releasing those GitS episodes tonight and tomorrow. I'll also be kicking off Black Lagoon 2nd Barrage on Tuesday or Wednesday.
Regarding this weekend, because I'll be out of town, there won't be any releases as my internet access will be limited at best. While I'm gone, I'll probably work on more GitS since I can work on it on my laptop. I also have a few small things to work on regarding some upcoming changes to the site, so I hope to get some of that done too. Whatever I finish will be released when I get back, sometime between Sunday night and Monday afternoon, depending on how much I need to upload.
So, that about covers it. One last time, I'll be at the Unicorn showing in S.F. at the Viz Cinema on Saturday the 20th at 2:30 if anyone else in the area is interested in joining us. There will be punch and pie.....not really.
Until next week, thanks for all your support!

Episode 11: The Shuddering Mountain (Part 2)
Before the Apsalus III launches, Ginias looks at it with the eyes of a madman. Aina asks him what happened to the scientists, and he says they are all drunk somewhere. Aina tells him to get into a normal suit for launch. Hearing Shiro announce his intention to abandon the military, Karen recalls the order Ryer gave her, to execute Shiro if he attempts to abandon his duties. She trains her weapon on him, but Shiro ignores her and leaves to stop Aina. Meanwhile, Aina creates a fire line and asks for a temporary truce while the wounded escape. While the Kergeren launches, a GM Sniper unit takes position, when Ginias fires the main cannon on the Apsalus. Seeing this as an abandonment of the cease fire, Ryer orders the GM Sniper to shoot down the Kergeren. Furious, Aina fires at the Federation HQ as Sanders and Karen defend the hovertruck from the blastwave. Ginias sees that Aina didn't hit the Federal Forces and, in a rage, shoots her. She falls from the cockpit as Shiro catches her with the Ez8. Reunited once more, they take the controls of the damaged Ez8 together in order to stop Ginias once and for all.
