Mobile Suit Gundam - The 08th MS Team Remastered Ep. 7 (DVD)

Episode 7: Reunion
In Europe, Zeon forces retreat when the Federation successfully completes Operation Odessa. Yuri and his soldiers are left behind, but he promises to take them to Ginias's base and get them back to space. He doesn't care if the Federation has the Earth because the war will be fought in space. Meanwhile, Shiro clings to the damaged Apsalus as it flies through the skies. Inside, he finds Aina, and they attempt a dangerous landing, nearly killing Shiro in the process. Shiro struggles to find shelter in a blizzard when he finds his wrecked Gundam, but passes out. He is rescued by Aina, and after finding out that Ginias is not her boyfriend, but her brother, the two begin a budding relationship. Soon after, Norris arrives and battles with Federation fighters above the crash site, leading to Aina's rescue by Zeon forces. Shiro watches as once more she flies away.

Release of Gundam Unicorn
We've been seeing a lot of requests about for Unicorn in comments, emails, and the chatbox, and we decided it needed to be addressed. So, here is, once again, the answer as to whether we'll be doing Gundam Unicorn.
NO, OZC Anime will NOT release Gundam Unicorn. As we have repeatedly stated, our release policies are VERY clear on this point. If a show is available in Region 1 on Blu-ray, it is NOT a candidate for release. For one thing, I'm not in the business of spending MY money on something only to give it away for free to countless people.
This site has always been and will always be about offering shows that are available in Region 1 on DVD in the best quality possible until they become available in R1 at that same quality.
So, don't bother asking if we'll release Unicorn. It won't happen. Requests in the chatbox will be deleted and directed to this post. Comments in episode releases will be deleted. Emails will be responded to with a link to this post. So save yourself some time and save the rest of the staff some aggravation and just don't ask.

Black Lagoon Episode 12 (Blu-Ray)

Episode 12: Guerrillas in the Jungle
Takenaka begins interrogating Rock, revealing that he was formerly a member of the Japanese Red Army. When Rock questions him as to why he continues to fight for a lost cause, he comments that he fights in order to give meaning to the sacrifices he made in the past for his beliefs. Due to Takenaka's jovial method of conducting the interrogation, Ibraha, Takenaka's comrade, asks Takenaka if he can torture Rock, but Takenaka refuses. Revy and Shenhua raid the camp and escape with Rock, and are followed by a fleet of vehicles under Ibraha's command. Revy and Shenhua dispatch the majority of the vehicles, and Ibraha orders the remainder of his men to continue the pursuit. When Ibraha refuses to order a retreat, Takenaka shoots him and makes the order. Revy delivers the documents to the CIA agents, and admonishes Rock not to be captured again.

Revy and Rock are forced to leave the Black Lagoon and seek a land route. Takenaka poses as their getaway driver, and although Revy sees through his charade, he takes Rock and escapes. Release Schedule Update - Monday 2/22/10 - UPDATED @ 10:15pm

Before you ask, we are NOT releasing Gundam Unicorn. So STOP ASKING FOR IT!
It's Monday, so you all know what time it is! This week's picture is just one I wanted to use, since I extended the Photoshop contest by an extra week.
Lets start off with what was SUPPOSED to have happened this week. I had been planning on getting Geass R2 Part 4 and 00 Season 2 Part 1 sometime in the next few days, but it hasn't shipped yet. My guess is that it won't make street date. Meaning that until I get shipping notification, your guess is as good as any as to when we might see those episodes.
So, what does that mean for us this week? Well, up first, we have the last 2 episodes of Black Lagoon season 1. I'm going to be working on Episode 11 tonight and may have it out, but I can't promise anything. What will come out tonight is 08th MS Team episode 6.
I've decided to keep GitS on hold this week anyway, and put a focus on 08th MS Team. I need to encode Episodes 7-9 before I can work on them, but that should take too long. No promises on how many will get done, but I'll try for 2-3. We'll get back to GitS next week.
The first BD volumes of Black Lagoon 2nd Barrage should be coming out in the next day or so, and I'll be keeping an eye on those so we can jump right in. A Black Lagoon season 1 batch will come in a few weeks.
Last, there will be a cover art update sometime this week. Some R1 complete collection art for OS, Wing and GitS SAC, as well as some new 2nd GIG, BL and Geass covers.
That about covers it for this week. Head on over to the forums and vote on the Photoshop contest, and as always, thanks for your support!

UPDATE: Per Mania's forums, 00 S2 Vol. 1 and Geass R2 Vol. 4 have been delayed to April 6th. Current series will now continue as previously scheduled.
Black Lagoon Episode 10 (Blu-Ray)

Episode 10: The Unstoppable ChambermaidRoberta forces Benny to crash the car in the port, but awakens Revy in the process. The two begin a firefight, evenly matched against one another. Balalaika arrives with a full complement of soldiers, and forces the two to stop fighting. She explains Roberta's background to Garcia, noting that she is a famed F.A.R.C. guerrilla wanted around the globe for numerous assassinations, bombings, and related terrorist activity. Despite this, Garcia claims that Roberta is an accepted member of the Lovelace family. To finish their duel, Roberta and Revy begin a fistfight, with the onlookers making bets on the winner. The two knock each other out, and Garcia leaves for home with Roberta. Afterward, Rock asks Benny about the background of Balalaika and her soldiers, and Benny reveals that they are former Soviet special forces that distinguished themselves in the Soviet war in Afghanistan.

Black Lagoon Episode 9 (Blu-Ray)

Episode 9: Maid to Kill
Roberta dispatches the majority of the cartel members, and Garcia is shocked at her combat prowess. Revy inadvertently reveals the Lagoon Company's presence during the firefight, and is knocked unconscious when Roberta fires a rocket-propelled grenade at her. Garcia asks the Lagoon Company to take him with them, and they manage to escape. One of the cartel members identifies Roberta as a former FARC guerrilla with a large bounty on her head. Roberta destroys the bar with grenades and steals a car to pursue the Lagoon Company. Having determined Roberta's identity, Balalaika mobilizes soldiers to aid the Lagoon Company. When Roberta catches up to the Lagoon Company, Dutch manages to destroy the engine of her car before almost being pulled out of the car by her and Benny begins driving into alleys and side-streets. As they turn back onto the main road, however, Roberta drives another car into them and latches onto the back of their car with a trench knife.

Rock learns that the boy is Garcia Lovelace, the heir to one of the wealthiest families in South America, and that the cartel had abducted Garcia after his father refused to allow the cartel to intimidate him. Concerned with the circumstances surrounding Garcia's abduction, Dutch contacts Balalaika for information on the Lovelace family and the cartel. As they enter Roanapur, Garcia is confident that he will be saved by Roberta, the Lovelace family maid. Meanwhile, Roberta is traveling through Roanapur looking for Garcia, and is confronted by members of the cartel in a bar. Release Schedule Update - Monday 2/15/10 [UPDATED 2/17]

This moment has been brought to you by Tiger Woods. For when your wife or girlfriend finds out about your secret love affair, Get the hell outta there! Tiger Woods.
Please play responsibly. (EZ8)
Congrats to EZ8 for his win this week! More on the caption contest shortly.
So, what's on deck this week? Glad you asked!
First off, Black Lagoon is back in action. I've obtained the BD's for the remaining episodes of season 1, and have encoded the rest of the episodes. I'll be picking that up again tomorrow and trying to get at least 3 episodes done this week.
In 2nd GIG news, since we reached the halfway point with the latest release, I'm going to put that one on a temporary hold, just until I knock Black Lagoon's last few episodes out of the way and then get past Geass R2 and 00 Season 2's first portion. I wouldn't expect much more than a week or two at most with this on hold. This may change depending on how soon I get Geass and 00.
In 08th MS Team news, we are about to hit the halfway point this week with the release of Episode 6 on Wednesday, as well as Episode 7 sometime on the weekend. I've seen a few questions about whether I'll be doing Miller's Report, the 08th MS Team compilation movie. Right now, I'm still trying to source a DVD for the newest Japanese release. This one was released in 2003, so it will likely be similar to Endless Waltz S.E. when compared to Gundam Wing in that the remaster quality is not as high. It's not a given at this time that Miller's Report will be done.
Now, on to a few new site matters. First up, in the unlikely event you haven't noticed if you visit the site regularly, we have a new, upgraded chatbox. It's quite a bit more lively than the old one, so drop in and chat if you are so inclined.
Next up, we have an interest check going in the forums and we need your responses. One of our users, Brent, is interested in doing PSP encodes and wanted to see how many people might want them and what format they want. The options are either a sub-only encode, a dub-only encode, or a pair of encodes to cover both. I've set the forum section to allow guest votes, so please head over HERE and vote if you are interested (and why not stay a while? The forums could use more members).
Lastly, regarding the caption contest. With the Photoshop contest still underway from last week, there will be no caption image this week, so head to the forums to join the Photoshop contest if you are interested. Next week, I'll be revamping it a bit to make it a little easier and hopefully more interesting for everyone.
So, until next week, as always, thanks for your support!

UPDATE 2/17 - Well, for anyone who followed the chatbox last night already knows, I came down with a pretty bad stomach bug yesterday evening, to the point that I couldn't even sit at my desk without feeling nauseous. Because of that, I'm a day behind schedule on release. Since I'm starting to feel better, I'm hoping to pick back up where I had planned to be yesterday. Just thought I'd let everyone know what the holdup was.

New Poll Update - Year of the Tiger Edition
Oh my, its been almost 1 month since we had the last poll. I will explain what happened below, but first...
Results from 3D Anime (1/18/10):
Awesome, I'd watch it! - 90 (30%)
Not sure if want... - 82 (27%)
No thanks, it's only a gimmick. - 86 (28%)
I don't care either way. - 34 (11%)
What does 3D mean? - 7 (2%)
To be honest, these results between "yes" and "no" are surprising to me. I was expecting fans' opinions on 3D anime to be all or nothing or not sure. Since I haven't been bought into the whole 3D push by movie studios, consider me in the "Not sure if want" crowd. I still think it's a gimmick, but I'm not entirely closed to the idea. I'm fine with 3D being used for big screen movies, but I'm concerned with how anime studios would choose to implement 3D within the show. Not all shows would benefit from 3D effects in my opinion. It could also end up hurting shows if production values increase because of additional equipment. I would be ready for 3D anime when it is possible to watch it at home and not have to wear those silly glasses.
Moving on, the reason why it took so long for a new poll was because I couldn't decide on a topic. First, it was going to be anime-related, then I decided to do one related to the release of the iPad, but because it turned out to be a huge disappointment, it didn't seem worth it. I will refrain myself from making any jokes about its name because I've already heard so many that it's not even funny anymore...okay, maybe a little. rant/Like most techophiles, I was really excited about the rumored Apple tablet because it could be a revoluntary device for home, school, and office-use that would be able to convince me, a "PC," to buy one, like the iPod. I won't go into detail about why it's a failure, you can read that on tech sites like Gizmodo or in the Forums for yourself. I wouldn't want to play games on it and if I want to take notes, type documents, or watch a movie, I'd use a laptop instead. Right now, the only things I see the iPad being perfect for is an e-reader, Google Earth viewer, and a very expensive digital picture frame. The iPad has so much potential but Apple didn't deliver. However, I'm sure someday the iPad will live up to its hype with its 2nd or 3rd revision with Apple adding in useful features that consumers actually want...one at a time. And maybe dropping the price while at it would be nice too./rant Well, at least there's the Slate and Courier to look forward to.
And now finally, this brings us to our new topic. You may know of February 14th as Valentine's Day but this year, for most Asians, another important holiday falls on the 14th: the Lunar New Year. Or commonly known as Chinese New Year even though Koreans and Vietnamese celebrate too with what they call Seollal and Tet, respectively. The New Year is a happy time when families gather for feasts and involves festivities like lion/dragon dances, fireworks, lanterns, exchanging money/gifts and giving each other their blessings for a happy and prosperous new year to come.
The year 2010 according to the Chinese Zodiac is the Year of the Tiger. People born in the year of the Tiger are generally charismatic and are defined by characteristics such as courageous, competitive, and unpredictable. They are friendly and loving, but can also selfish and short tempered. Being a seeker of power and attention is what makes the Tiger a natural born leader. They are noble and protective yet will spring to life any second thanks to their instinctive and intelligent nature.
So I ask, do YOU celebrate the Lunar New Year?

Two Dopp fighters haul the mobile armor Apsalus high in the night sky to begin a field test. Aina serves as the pilot of the Apsalus and begins the test. While there are some minor equipment problems, the Apsalus performs well during the test. Meanwhile, Sanders expresses concern over his supposed curse: his team always dies on their 3rd mission, leaving him alive. The 08th MS Team deploys when they intercept the Apsalus on it's test flight, forcing Sanders to face his fears head-on.

Release Schedule Update - Monday 2/8/10
"But I don't want to kill the kitty..."
"I, Lelouch vi Britannia, command you! Kill the kitty!"
Huh, Monday already? Anyway, congrats to rauj13, our week 4 winner!
So, what is in store for this week? Well, that's what we are here for!
With Black Lagoon on hold while we wait for new raws, I've been testing some BD encoding of my own for Zeta Gundam. I'm not starting it until 08th MS Team is done, but I just thought I'd mention it.
In new releases this week, I'll be trying for 3 episodes of 2nd GIG, and two episodes of 08th MS Team. I still need to encode the next few 08th MS Team episodes, so those might not be coming until later this week.
Looking ahead to some upcoming releases, we are inching closer to the (hopeful) release of Code Geass R2's final volume and the first volume of Gundam 00 Season 2. I don't want to jinx it, but so far, I haven't seen any indications of a delay for either one. The release plans for those will be finishing off Geass first, followed by starting 00 Season 2.
So, this week, the caption contest is going to take on a little twist. This week, we are going to try a photoshop contest. Instead of being constrained to a single image to caption, this time, you'll be able to use anything you want (other than porn) as long as it also contains the subject for the week. We are going to try this one out this week and see how it goes. If it's popular, we'll start to alternate between caption contests and Photoshop contests. If not...well, we'll see.
This week, the subject is....the 1:1 scale Gundam statue from Odaiba, soon to be put back up in Shizuoka this summer! Click the image below to go to the forum thread where you can enter the contest.

Episode 7: Calm Down, Two MenDutch dispatches Rock and Revy on errands throughout Roanapur, and Revy is displeased that she is forced to perform them with Rock. When they stop at the Church of Violence, an organization posing as religious missionaries in order to traffic drugs and illegal weaponry, Rock manages to use his business savvy to repair an agreement with Yolanda, the head of the Church of Violence, after Revy draws a gun on her. Yolanda is impressed by Rock's skill and asks Revy to emulate him. Afterwards, the Rock and Revy begin a violent disagreement at a restaurant, as Rock is furious at Revy for beginning to act like his former superiors in Japan, leaving Revy at a loss for words. This release puts Black Lagoon on hold until additional raws are made available. A thought I had recently was that Zero-Raws might be waiting for entire seasons to be released, though if that were the case, the first season should already be out. In any case, we can only hope they continue releasing new raws soon.

Black Lagoon Episode 6 (Blu-Ray)

Episode 6: Moonlit Hunting Grounds
Dutch and Revy leave the Black Lagoon on a motorboat to raid the Nazis' ship. With the Nazis celebrating their retrieval of the painting, the two easily enter the ship, and Dutch instructs Revy to distract the crew while he searches for the painting. Revy obliges, killing all the Nazis she comes across, but Dutch is forced to stop her when she tries to kill the civilian crew members, which Dutch attributes to Revy's unease at accepting Rock into the crew. Dutch eventually finds Rachman, the Nazi commander, talking to Sir Alfred, a former SS member that ordered Rachman to retrieve the painting. Dutch deduces that Alfred hired the Lagoon Company to doubly insure that he would acquire the painting, and Rachman is furious at this revelation. After Alfred ends the conversation, Dutch and Revy kill Rachman, finishing their mission.

Release Schedule Update - Monday 2/1/10

"They need another biker for Mario Kart! Sorry Goh, but Nintendo comes first!" (Sr388)
You know what time it is! Congrats to Sr388 for this week's winning caption!
So, lets take a look at what is in store for this week.
Lets start with Black Lagoon. At the moment, I'm still waiting for raws of episodes 8+ from Zero-Raws. I'm hoping they'll release them soon. There is a secondary source, but the file size is a lot larger for a negligible quality difference. I have faith that Z-R will release the new raws soon. However, other than that, I'll be releasing episodes 6 and 7 this week.
In 08th MS Team news, I've finished encoding episode 3, so that will be out this week, probably tomorrow. I'm hoping to encode episode 4 this week, possibly for release this weekend. Not a whole lot else to say here.
On the 2nd GIG front, like the other shows above, I'm shooting for 2 episodes this week. Going back to Black Lagoon for a moment, if it has to go on hold, expect to see an average of 3-4 GitS episodes a week until Black Lagoon resumes.
Lastly, I want to cover a few updates on planned projects, since we've had a lot of questions about them. Planned upcoming releases are:
So, until next week, thanks for your support and here is the new captions (and yes, I know it's recycled from an episode post. It's funny.)
