New Poll Update - Year of the Tiger Edition

Oh my, its been almost 1 month since we had the last poll. I will explain what happened below, but first...

Results from 3D Anime (1/18/10):

Awesome, I'd watch it! - 90 (30%)
Not sure if want... - 82 (27%)
No thanks, it's only a gimmick. - 86 (28%)
I don't care either way. - 34 (11%)
What does 3D mean? - 7 (2%)

To be honest, these results between "yes" and "no" are surprising to me. I was expecting fans' opinions on 3D anime to be all or nothing or not sure. Since I haven't been bought into the whole 3D push by movie studios, consider me in the "Not sure if want" crowd. I still think it's a gimmick, but I'm not entirely closed to the idea. I'm fine with 3D being used for big screen movies, but I'm concerned with how anime studios would choose to implement 3D within the show. Not all shows would benefit from 3D effects in my opinion. It could also end up hurting shows if production values increase because of additional equipment. I would be ready for 3D anime when it is possible to watch it at home and not have to wear those silly glasses.

Moving on, the reason why it took so long for a new poll was because I couldn't decide on a topic. First, it was going to be anime-related, then I decided to do one related to the release of the iPad, but because it turned out to be a huge disappointment, it didn't seem worth it. I will refrain myself from making any jokes about its name because I've already heard so many that it's not even funny anymore...okay, maybe a little. rant/Like most techophiles, I was really excited about the rumored Apple tablet because it could be a revoluntary device for home, school, and office-use that would be able to convince me, a "PC," to buy one, like the iPod. I won't go into detail about why it's a failure, you can read that on tech sites like Gizmodo or in the Forums for yourself. I wouldn't want to play games on it and if I want to take notes, type documents, or watch a movie, I'd use a laptop instead. Right now, the only things I see the iPad being perfect for is an e-reader, Google Earth viewer, and a very expensive digital picture frame. The iPad has so much potential but Apple didn't deliver. However, I'm sure someday the iPad will live up to its hype with its 2nd or 3rd revision with Apple adding in useful features that consumers actually want...one at a time. And maybe dropping the price while at it would be nice too./rant Well, at least there's the Slate and Courier to look forward to.

And now finally, this brings us to our new topic. You may know of February 14th as Valentine's Day but this year, for most Asians, another important holiday falls on the 14th: the Lunar New Year. Or commonly known as Chinese New Year even though Koreans and Vietnamese celebrate too with what they call Seollal and Tet, respectively. The New Year is a happy time when families gather for feasts and involves festivities like lion/dragon dances, fireworks, lanterns, exchanging money/gifts and giving each other their blessings for a happy and prosperous new year to come.

The year 2010 according to the Chinese Zodiac is the Year of the Tiger. People born in the year of the Tiger are generally charismatic and are defined by characteristics such as courageous, competitive, and unpredictable. They are friendly and loving, but can also selfish and short tempered. Being a seeker of power and attention is what makes the Tiger a natural born leader. They are noble and protective yet will spring to life any second thanks to their instinctive and intelligent nature.
So I ask, do YOU celebrate the Lunar New Year?
