Three members of Mithril's Special Response Team, Sousuke Sagara, Kurz Weber, and Melissa Mao, are assigned to protect Kaname Chidori from terrorist organizations. Because of Sousuke's age and Japanese heritage, he joins Kaname's school as an undercover student while Kurz and Melissa provide backup in the form of surveilance.

ezero8 I believe will make a 720 release. Well I hope anyway since my Media Server can't handle 1080 and my TV is only 720 anyway.
Alright, I was going to ask how many more people would be interested in a 720p ver. in order to convince me, but I have faith that FMP will be popular enough. That and I got at least 5 showing of hands to convince me.

I've downloaded the 1st ep, and the encode quality is questionable. I've made a few screenshots, here is one of them:

Another problem IMO is that the size of the default dialogue font is way too small (and that it's plain Arial). At the other hand, the signs are great.
I have no other remarks. Generally speaking, the release would be excellent with a better encode and a better (and bigger) dialogue font.

From what I understand FMP is an upconvert so I wouldn't expect normal Blu-ray quality. Still better than DVD quality.
Well, the encode quality is the best I can offer you as I can't find any other set of raws. Plus, and while this is only a guess, I believe that its probable that in 2002, that submarine scene was rendered in 480p, since at the time, Blu-ray wasn't even a pipedream. While it's easy to go back to the master animation and encode it to HD, they would have had to re-render the CGI in 1080p. Paramount had the same problem with the Blu-Ray for the first Star Trek movie. Like I said, just a guess, but as it's also possible that the Blu-Ray release for FMP was an upscale in general, leading to a drop in quality compared to a native 1080p like Gundam 00 or Geass. Keep in mind that I do not do my own encodes so I have to work with what I can get.
As for the default dialogue size, it's the exact same size and positioning I use for Geass, 00, and Zeta, and as far as I am aware, has been accepted as fine in size and positioning. Trust me, it took fine tuning before people were no longer asking for adjustments, so I'm satisfied that the size and positioning is fine as it is. Besides, most good softsub filters should have scaling functions built in so you can fine tune to taste.
As for the font itself, my concern is primarily with readability over styling for the main dialogue. I find that Arial suits this purpose just fine. I do like to experiment with different fonts for signs and the OP/ED lyrics, but I find the OP/ED to be less crucial, and the signs I always ensure they are still readable if I use a stylized font.
