Mobile Suit Gundam 00 - Project Preview

Project-1

Series Information

The year is 2307 A.D. Although fossil fuels have been depleted, humanity has obtained a new source of energy to replace them, in the form of a large-scale solar power generation system based on three huge orbital elevators. However, the benefits of this system are available only to a handful of major powers and their allies.

The three orbital elevators belong to three superpower blocs. These are the Union, led by the United States of America; the Human Reform League, led by China, Russia, and India; and the AEU, led by Europe. These superpower blocs continue to play a grand zero-sum game for the sake of their own prestige and prosperity. Thus, even in the 24th Century, humanity has yet to come together as one.

In this world of never-ending conflict, a private armed organization appears, dedicated to the elimination of war through armed force. Its name is Celestial Being, and it is in possession of "Gundam" mobile suits. With these Gundams, it begins armed intervention into all acts of war.

Project Preview

The latest in the long running Gundam franchise, Gundam 00 first aired in Japan in October 2007, with a US broadcast following a little over a year later in November 2008. Gundam 00 followed the broadcast method of Code Geass and its sequel, breaking the series into two seasons of 25 episodes each, with a 6 month break inbetween seasons. Season 2 recently wrapped up, and the US broadcast of Season 1 completed in January.

Project-3

In a first for US Gundam broadcasts, Gundam 00 was not shown on Cartoon Network but was instead aired on Sci-Fi Channel (soon to be known as Syfy). The US DVD release is scheduled for June, also following the lead of Code Geass, shipping the first two volumes up front, totalling 9 episodes.

Project-4

Although the DVD's are not out yet, Bandai has posted the first 3 episodes to YouTube and those are the source for the English audio on my releases. My subtitles are using the timing and fonts from the Menclave fansubs, but are using the translations available from the YouTube subs. I will likely do a V.2 release of the episodes when the DVD's ship, using the official DVD subs and translated OP/ED credits.

Episode 1 has already been posted, and Episodes 2 and 3 will follow shortly.
